SHE'S Beneficial will carry the tag as sentimental favourite in Friday's Donna Philpott Memorial Rising Stars Handicap (1300m) at the Bendigo Jockey Club.
Trained by Bendigo's Kym Hann, She's Beneficial ($4.40) still carries among its owners the name of Donna Philpott, who died in a track fall at the Bendigo Jockey Club in June, 2017.
The five-year-old mare will be ridden by Donna's daughter, Jess, who last year finished fourth aboard She's Beneficial in the race named in honour of her mother.
"It was a race last year we aimed at, but just missed, so, hopefully, we can go a couple better this year," Hann said on Thursday.
"Donna is still down as one of the owners of the horse, so this is really special to be part of for the whole family and the Bendigo racing community.

"The horse has been very consistent and a bit unlucky. This is probably one of the weaker races she meets this time in, so fingers crossed she can go well."
She's Beneficial is lining up for her fifth start following a four-week freshen up.
She finished fourth in a field of 12 over 1100m at her last start in Bendigo on June 23.

"The horse is all good and well going into tomorrow... there's not much more I can really do, so hopefully, she runs well," Hann said.
As well as She's Beneficial, Hann also has Elmore Lad ($23), ridden by jockey Trent Germaine, in the Donna Philpott Memorial.
She's Beneficial and Elmore Lad are among four Bendigo-trained horses contesting the race.
The field also includes Matthew Enright's Bonfire Gold ($21) and Josh Julius' Benny Goes Bezerk ($7.50).
The Donna Philpott Memorial is race six on the card at 2.30pm.
The first of 10 races at the BJC gets under way at 11.55am.
