The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving send-up of jazz age musical narrated by an enthusiastic theatre fan.
"It's a really fun show with lots of great songs and great character roles," director Maree Kennedy said.
"It's the perfect vehicle to showcase all the talent we have and also provide a great creative and collaborative experience for all those involved.
"We have so many people keen to be engaged in theatre in Bendigo that not everyone can take part in the formal productions.
"We also wanted to develop talents in people who are interested in various areas of theatre but cannot always access hands-on training and experience."
Ms Kennedy said the collaborative effort was designed to showcase the participants' talents while having fun along the way.
"A bunch of us got together and decided to put on a show," she said.
"The biggest support is from all the individuals, families and groups that are involved to fill all the roles required to put on a show.
"Other very important support has come from the Bendigo Theatre Company which agreed to auspice the project and from the Ulumbarra Foundation who provided a grant to the project."
The Drowsy Chaperone is on at the Arts Shed in Allingham Street, Golden Square on July 5, 6, 12 and 13 at 7.30pm and July 7 at 2pm. For tickets log on to www.gotix.com.au
