The 2008 premiership player has agreed to terms for the rest of the 2019 season and the 2020 season.
The return to Canterbury Park comes after his former club Wodonga Raiders agreed to clear him.
Filo met with Raiders officials on Wednesday where the differences between the two parties were resolved.
Filo leaves behind a more lucrative deal with the Raiders to play with Eaglehawk.
"Players of Brodie's calibre don't come around too often,'' Eaglehawk coach Travis Matheson said.
"He's as good a player as they come, but most importantly he considers Eaglehawk to be home and he's nearly played 100 games for the club.
"He's well respected by the supporters and the players at the club that have played with him in the past.
"His return will bring a buzz to the club."
Filo last played with the Borough in 2015 - the same year he won the Michelsen Medal.
Since then the 28-year-old won the Nicholls Medal in the NTFL in 2016 and last year's Morris Medal in the OMFL.
"Brodie always had the desire to come back to Eaglehawk,'' Matheson said.
"I'd been in contact with him informally about his movements.... and the timing has worked out now."
Filo won't play in this Saturday's clash with South Bendigo at the QEO.
The league has a general bye on July 6, so his first game back with the Borough will be against Maryborough at Canterbury Park on July 13.
In the meantime, Matheston will work on the best way to add Filo to an Eaglehawk midfield rotation that is already one of the most potent in the competition.
"The beauty of our midfield, and Brodie, is that there is plenty of flexibility there and you need that,'' Matheson said.
"You look at the sides we're playing they all structure up differently through the midfield.
"We'll be able to change things up from week to week to make sure we can go with those opposition teams."
Filo's return caps a huge week for Eaglehawk.
Last Saturday the reigning premiers upstaged ladder leader Strathfieldsaye.
"The last couple of weeks have been contrasting to four or so weeks ago where we weren't playing great footy,'' Matheson said.
"Credit to the players the way they've come through it. It was a good win on Saturday and then Brodie's signing as well gives us some good momentum moving forward."
