That's the opinion of the star midfielder's father, Derrick, who co-coaches the Magpies with his brother Shawn.
"If Brodie comes back to play in the BFNL it will be with Eaglehawk,'' Derrick said on Wednesday.
"He won't play for Castlemaine."
Brodie Filo is on the outer at his Ovens and Murray Football League club Wodonga Raiders.
Wodonga will hold a board meeting in the next 24 hours to decide Filo's future.
The club informed the Raiders' playing group on Tuesday night that the midfielder would not be selected for this weekend's game against Lavington.
It is believed Filo's failure to meet his contractural obligations, on top of behaviour problems at last year's Morrish Medal awards night, has led to a potential parting of ways.
The Raiders are seventh on the ladder with a 5-6 record and they've lost three of their past four matches.
With the AFL Victoria transfer deadline on Sunday, Filo faces a race against time to be cleared to play for another club.
His first hurdle is the Raiders agreeing to release him from his contract.
If they don't, Filo will be forced to play for the Raiders or sit out the rest of the 2019 season before finding a new club in 2020.
As for Eaglehawk, the reigning premier will assess its options once Wodonga has determined what path it will take with Filo.
Filo won a premiership with the Borough as a 17-year-old in 2008.
He had a stint in the WAFL with the Peel Thunder before returning to Victoria to play with Barham-Koondrook.
He returned to Eaglehawk where he won the club best and fairest award in 2013 - the same season he won the Derrick Filo Medal for the BFNL's best player at inter-league level.
At the end of 2015 he made the move to the Goulburn Valley Football League where he played one season with Shepparton United.
Filo has spent the past two-and-a-half years with the Wodonga Raiders where he won last year's Morrish Medal and is widely reagrded as the best player in the OMFNL.
He also won the Nicholls Medal for the league best and fairest in the Northern Territory Football League in 2016.
