Its owner had just brought it on its maiden voyage and was preparing to take it on a holiday trip in three weeks, Leading Senior Constable David Young said.
The caravan was two-weeks-old and had only just been purchased, he said.
The $68,000 ute it was attached to, and $14,500 worth of equipment, were also stolen, Leading Senior Constable Young said.
The victim parked their grey 2010 Toyota LandCruiser and caravan next to their home in Sullivan Street, Malmsbury on Saturday night.
The items were stolen between midnight and 9am Sunday morning, Leading Senior Constable Young said.
The ute has a distinctive three inch exhaust, as well as a large steel canopy made by Flood Engineering in Bendigo, he said.
The caravan is a 2019 New Age Wallaby off-road model.
