Despite the win, both coaches knew the match could have gone either way.
"It was goal for goal from both teams for the entire game - the shooting accuracy was really high," Kangaroo Flat coach Jayden Cowling said.
Cowling said his team was eager for a win following the round nine draw with Eaglehawk.
"The girls really wanted to put on a good performance and convert every time we had the ball," he said.
"We had really good intensity, but also threw away a couple balls in the first half.
"We then only threw away four in the second compared to eight during the first "
Roo's best on went to goal attack Julia Clarke, but Cowling was also impressed with the effort of Milly Wicks.
"Milly has been injured the past couple of weeks and has spent time on the bench, she came on yesterday and opened up our attack and did a really good job," Cowling said.
Moving forward the Roos' are confident they can keep the momentum coming all the way to finals.
"We can't drop off now. We're taking it to the next level and we're aiming to put on a solid second half of the season to prepare for finals," he said.
Sandhurst coach Tamara Gilchrist said both teams played well.
"We certainly had our opportunities, but it was just one those games that came down to the last few minutes it was fairly even and goal for goal," Gilchrist said.
"It really could have gone either way, it was a great contest."
Dragons' best on went to goal attack Heather Oliver and wing attack Meg Williams.
"We've got a few things to work on, but onward and upwards towards September, and take each week as it comes," Gilchrist said.
