Bendigo Braves women struck gold against the Ballarat Rush, while the men fell short in a four-point thriller.

The Braves women locked down their home court at the Bendigo stadium to secure a 10-point victory over their goldfields rival.
The Rush had a minor one-goal lead going into the first break with the scores at 25-26.
By half-time the Braves took back control of game with an 11-point lead, which was extended to 12 at the end of the third quarter.
The Braves' shooting started to lapse in the final quarter, but they held on to finish out the game 81-71 over the Rush.
"We missed a lot of shots in the last quarter which is a little disappointing, it's not something we like to do," Braves women's coach Megan Moody said.
"We also gave 11 offensive rebounds."
However, Moody was impressed with her team's effort to gel together and get the job done when needed.
"We had a good mixture of shooters, almost five in double figures," Moody said.
Kelly Wilson finished with 20 points, Becca Tobin 18, Gabe Richards 13, Tessa Lavey 12 and Tess Madgen in her first on on court appearance for the Braves shot nine.
Madgen was recruited by the Braves to fill in for Nadeen Payne who is currently recovering from injury.
"It was great to get Tess out on the floor with us, it's only going to get better the more time she has with our group - a perfect fit for the team," Moody said.
"But at the end of the day we're happy to take the win over Ballarat who are quite a good side.
"Coach Hayes does a really good job with his group."

The Braves men put up a hard-fought effort against the Ballarat Miners, but their opponents managed to nudge ahead to get the job done by four points.
The Miners took the early lead by three points at the end of the first quarter, but by half time the Braves took control with a one-point buffer.
The tables turned again at the end of the third with the Miners ahead by one goal, setting up the basis for a thrilling final quarter.
With approximately six minutes left on the clock a well-placed three-pointer from Deonte Burton levelled the scores at 77 all, followed quickly after by a two-pointer from Matt Andronicos to see the Braves ahead by two.
However, the Miners maintained their composure to sink a pair of two-pointers from Marqueze Coleman and Deng Acouth to take back the lead 79-81 with four minutes left on the clock.
Braves' Mathiang Muo then squared the game with a two-point lay up.
The Miners came back fighting to unload five points onto the scoreboard within the next minute to lead 86-81 with three minutes remaining.
The Braves managed to get their score back to 84 with 90 seconds left, but some well shot free throws from Miners' Jerry Evans Jr bumped Ballarat up to 88 to see out the game by four points.
"I can never deny the effort of this group, they stuck hard with them," men's coach David Hogan said.
"The guys dug deep and managed to get it back to a draw, but Ballarat made a few good plays at the end, so credit to them."
"Ray Turner coming back from a knee injury, he was instrumental with 15 rebounds and 28 points, Deonte Burton did a good job of leading the team at both ends of the floor with 4 steals, 7 assists and 16 points."
"The other guys played their role too, basketball is a team game, but unfortunately we didn't come out on top tonight."
Burton was named as the team's MVP.
