AN ERRATIC driver has sideswiped a vehicle, driven on the wrong side of the road and carved up someone's front lawn while evading police in North Bendigo.
An officer tried unsuccessful to intercept the utility after receiving reports someone was driving erratically in North Bendigo without their headlights about 6.20am, police officer Andrew Bowen said.
The ute came within metres of a house, driving over a nature strip, footpath and onto a front lawn, before damaging a tree and fleeing.
The ute matched a description of a white 1991 Ford Falcon stolen from Spring Gully this morning.
Sergeant Bowen called for anyone who witnessed the ute driving in the Holdsworth Road area to come forward.
Police also want to speak to the owner of a parked car they believe may have been sideswiped about the same time.
Police received reports the ute may have hit a vehicle in the Holdsworth Road or Prouses Road area, Sergeant Bowen said.
The owner may have left for work before realising the car had been damaged.
Sergeant Bowen urged anyone who witnessed the incident or had information about the driver to contact the Bendigo police station on 5448 1300.
People can also contact Crime Stoppers, anonymously if they wish, on 1800 333 000 or via www.crimestoppers.com.au
