The Blues (2-7) rallied hard from start to finish to secure the 54-53 win over the Panthers (2-7).
"It was a really clean game from both teams, but of course we are really excited to come away with the one-goal win," Blues coach Mandy Burrill-Grinton said.
"They played some fast and competitive netball. I started some of the girls in some different positions and they stayed there for the full four quarters."
The 2019 season marks Inglewood's return to the top division after not fielding a team in 2018.
"At the start of the season I didn't go out and recruit massively because the club already had numbers there," Burrill-Grinton said.
"I could just see the potential from girls who hadn't been tapped into.
"That showed yesterday when the whole team stepped up and proved they are A-grade competitors."
Burrill-Grinton's plan is to be as competitive as possible when coming up against the top teams.
"We know the scoreline won't always work in our favour against the top four, but we can certainly achieve our targets of where we are working towards this season."
