The Hawks (4-4) put up a hard-fought effort to secure a four-goal win over Mount Pleasant (4-3-1) to remain in the top five on the HDFNL ladder.
"We didn't want to enter the last half of the season starting from sixth," Huntly coach Emily Eliades said.
"It didn't matter who we played, the girls were going to come out firing.
"It was a close game, it usually is when we come up against Mount Pleasant."
Despite Mounts' strong start to the match, the Hawks came flying back early with a seven-goal turnaround.
"And then we hung on for our dear lives," Eliades laughed."They kept coming at us and we would open the margin and then they would close it again."
However, the Hawks flew together to secure a tightly-contested 45-41 victory on the final siren.
Eliades said the team's focus over recent weeks was to be "tenacious" and give everything a go.
"The goal is to be able to really shut things down in the moment and not let anything get past us," she said.
