Sharp kicked 16 goals in the Storm's big win over Maryborough on Saturday to take his season tally to 76 at the halfway mark.
The record for most goals kicked in a BFNL home and away season is 154 - set by Eaglehawk's Frank Crapper in 1933.
Two years ago Sharp kicked 124 goals in the home and away season and was 58 at the halfway mark.
The left-footer was at his brilliant best against the Pies on Saturday, kicking 16.3 in the 29.16 (190) to 6.10 (46) victory.
It was his third double-figure haul of the season and in the past three games he has kicked 38 goals.
"Not many people can do what he does... it's pretty amazing what he's doing,'' Storm coach Troy Coates said.
"He's probably had 20 kicks for the day today and kicked 16.3.
"It's hard to explain (how good he is). He just gets the job done."
Maryborough coach Ben Lavars used youngsters Connor O'Shea and Aidan Hare on Sharp.
"Once the game opened up and they got some quality ball, it wouldn't have mattered who was on him (Sharp) today,'' Lavars said.
"He's such a quality forward. We had to do more to try to stop the ball getting into him rather than stopping him."
After playing every team in the competition, Lavars was left with little doubt as to who is the best team in the league.
"No offence to the other teams in the competition, but Strathfieldsaye are the best outfit we've seen,'' Lavars said.
"They way they move the ball, their inside work, their work on the outside is second to none at this stage.
"People asked me before the game "are we going to tag anyone", but you could probably tag 15 of their players and they'd still have some quality leftover.
"They're a very good side."

While the final scoreline didn't look pretty, Lavars said it was a great learning experience for his players.
"We had 12 players out today and, I know a lot of sides go through that, but we don't have the players in the reserves to cover that,'' Lavars said.
"We have better depth than what we've had in the past couple of years, but it was a big ask coming up against Strathfieldsaye.
"We had some young kids do really well with their effort and contested ball, but once the ball got out Strathfieldsaye were too quick and fit.
"It was a good guide for our younger players to show them how hard you have to work if you want to be up with the best sides in the league."
The Storm go into the halfway mark of the season with a mortgage on the minor premiership.
They're two games and 125 per cent in front of second-placed Gisborne.
In the past five weeks they've played the bottom five sides and won by margins of 134, 76, 222, 142 and 144 points.
"Everyone played their role and we stuck to our structures,'' Coates said.
"The most pleasing thing over the past few weeks in these big wins is that the boys are playing team footy and not individual footy."
