Nestled away behind the trees sits the bowls club.
"A lot of people don't even know we exist," Lockwood South Bowls Club president Brian Ede said.
To be a member of the club is more than just becoming another lawn bowler, it's all about friendship and camaraderie on and off the rink.
Rain, hail or shine the club's members gather to play. The moment a fellow bowler walks into the clubhouse, they are greeted with ear-to-ear smiles and open arms.
However, the club took a massive hit in 2004 when its clubhouse was destroyed by vandals, which unfortunately resulted in several of its members departing for other clubs.
The club is still trying to increase its numbers back to the pre-fire days and currently only has 16 active members who put their heart and soul into ensuring it lives on.
"We have just enough people to cover our pennant team for Saturday but we really want more members," Ede said.
"With a few more members we would be able to have another pennant team."
The club's goal is to bolster its numbers back to around 20-30 members.
Members of all ages are welcome, with the club's youngest only in their mid-30s.
The club also has several long standing members in brothers George Manallack, now in his 40th year, alongside brother Alf who has been there for 38 years.
Recently the club opened up its doors to the students of Lockwood South Primary School, with the children having the time of their lives.
Even if you have never bowled in your life, do not worry, it's hard to leave the clubhouse without the members showing you how it's done.
Within five minutes of arriving, I was down on one knee trying my luck on the indoor bowling rink which is utilised every Saturday afternoon throughout the winter months.
The indoor rink might be smaller, but it provides the "same feel" as traditional lawn bowls and can be used all year round.
Lawn bowls gives the members an opportunity to slow down and play a sport that requires more skill than brawn.
"Bowls is definitely not a contact game," laughed Geroge Manallack.
There's nothing to lose, give Lockwood South member Bill Whitbread a call on 0417 365 658 and arrange a time to have a bowl and see it all for yourself.
