Gary Harrison, 60, attended a brief hearing on Thursday, where the police informant made a successful application for an extension of time to provide the brief of evidence.
The Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team charged Mr Harrison in April with the sexual penetration of a child under 16, producing child abuse material, accessing child abuse material and possessing child abuse material.
Magistrate Sarah Leighfield expressed concern about the delay to the proceedings, but granted the extension of time to ensure the necessary evidence was ready for a committal mention in December.
Mr Harrison remains in custody.
He was expected to make an application for bail on Thursday, but the application was withdrawn on Wednesday night.
The court heard investigations were ongoing.
