After a competitive first quarter, the BFNL flag favourite put South Bendigo to the sword and won convincingly 26.16 (172) to 4.6 (30).
The Bloods kicked three of their four goals in the opening quarter and from that point on the home side Storm added 21.8 to 1.6.
"We think we have a strong attacking game, but we've had a big focus this year on our defence,'' Storm coach Troy Coates said.
"One or two of those early goals South Bendigo kicked were through our turnovers where we tried to switch the ball.
"The pleasing thing is we're keeping opponents to low scores."
