RELATED - Last weekend's HDFNL round seven wrap
LOGAN Prout's mix of talent and leadership has been recognised by not only being selected to play for the Vic Country under-19 team this weekend, but also being appointed a co-captain.
Vic Country will play the Victorian Amateur Football Association in the Under-19 Challenge Cup at Elsternwick on Saturday.
The pacy Prout - a Leitchville-Gunbower premiership player last year - will co-captain the side with South Barwon's Lachie Noble.
The AFLCV region is well represented, with the Vic Country squad featuring six players from the Bendigo league - Brad Bernacki (Gisborne), Lachlan Wallace (Strathfieldsaye), Lachlan Gill (Strathfieldsaye), Liam Spear (Gisborne), Bailey Henderson (Strathfieldsaye) and Leyton Chisholm (Kyneton).
Among the emergencies is Hunter Lawrence (Strathfieldsaye).
Prout said he was honoured to be selected as a co-captain of the team, which is being coached by Robbie Waters, while the timing of the game is perfect given Leitchville-Gunbower has the bye this weekend.
"I'm a bit surprised with the captaincy, but it's a great privilege," Prout, 19, said on Wednesday.
"Any opportunity you get to play a game like this and see how you go is obviously great... it gives you a good chance to see what you need to do to improve."
A shoulder injury cost Prout the chance of being part of Heathcote District's inter-league win over Sunraysia last month.
Prout booted six goals in the Bombers' 124-point win over Huntly last Saturday.
