
THE Bendigo Junior and Shepparton District Junior football leagues will face off in seven inter-league matches as part of the La Trobe University Challenge at Strathfieldsaye on Sunday.
Games will be played on both ovals at Tannery Lane, kicking off at 9.45am with the under-14 boys contest.
"The two leagues have formed a friendly rivalry over a short period of time, which has provided additional opportunity for our players to aspire to that higher level of competition," the BJFL's John Hewitt said this week.

9.45am - Under 14 Boys
10am - Under 12 Boys
11.30am - Under 13 Boys
11.40am - Under 15 Boys
1pm - Youth Girls U16
1.35pm - Under 16 Boys
2.30pm - Youth Girls U18
UMPIRE MILESTONE
Umpire Dion Austin will officiate in his 500th game on Saturday.
Austin will reach the milestone when he waves the flags as a goal umpire in the Loddon Valley league senior match between Inglewood and Maiden Gully YCW.
"Dion commenced at the Bendigo Umpires Association in 2002 and has been committed to goal umpiring every weekend during football season since," AFLCV umpire manager Sharon McColl said this week.
"Dion also works tirelessly on community projects, including the Bendigo Dragon team and every year raises money for the Run For Kids.
"He has been a stalwart around central Victorian football for many years and we congratulate Dion on his achievement."
