President Leonard Vallance said the VFF Livestock Group group wanted to fill five policy council vacancies, for positions representing the regions of Glenelg, North Central, Goulburn Broken, Mallee and West Gippsland.
"The VFF Livestock Group has a strong record of success," Mr Vallance said.
"We have been at the frontline of negotiations with industry and government to improve animal welfare, livestock traceability and market access.
"Our biosecurity extension program, Stock Sense, helps producers adopt industry-leading animal health and production practices."
He said serving on the council offered farmers the opportunity to contribute to policy, set directions for advocacy and make a real difference for farmers and the industry.
The council was also working on national standards for loading and unloading ramps, a permanent kangaroo control framework for Victoria, to protect live exports and fight farm crime.
