POLICE are yet to establish whether a spate of burglaries from Elmore to Strathallan early Friday morning are linked.
Everything from sweets to heavy machinery was taken.
Money, tobacco, soft drinks and confectionery was stolen from the Elmore Newsagency at about 4am Friday morning, the Campaspe Crime Investigation Unit's Troy Wickham said.
There were also attempted break-ins at the towns butchers and the IGA supermarket around the same time, he said.
The Elmore crimes were followed by a break-in at Treasure House Jewellers in Rochester.
"They've jimmied open a rear window to gain entry to the business, then stolen a quantity of jewellery," Detective Senior Constable Wickham said.
A small amount of cash was also stolen from a hairdressing salon in Rochester.
Further north in Strathallan a telehandler - a machine similar to a forklift but with a boom - was stolen.
Police are investigating reports the machinery was sighted in Lancaster, Detective Senior Constable Wickham said.
The JCB telehandler has broken headlights, bald tyres and the registration plate '71937F'. At the time it was stolen it had hay forks attached.
