Josh Govan had his first taste of inter-league football last Saturday and now he wants more.
The Kyneton star richly deserved his first blue and gold jumper after stringing together consistent form for the Tigers.
"I'd heard other people talk previously about how good it is to train and play alongside the best players in the league and I loved it,'' Govan said.
"From the first training night all the way through there was a really good vibe in the group.
"It showed in the performance how well the group came together. Some of the footy we played it seemed like we'd been playing together for years.
"There was even some comments from some of the opposition players about how well-drilled we were.
"I'd love to be a part of it again in the next few years and help get the league back up the rankings."
Govan is one of the premier inside midfielders in the BFNL, but inter-league coach Darryl Wilson had other plans for him last Saturday.
Govan was used as a small defender and he didn't let the coaching staff down.
"It was a bit of a surprise to hear I was playing down back, but I was so happy just to make the team,'' Govan said.
"I'd played a bit of footy down back earlier in my career, so I was comfortable in that role.
"I'm glad Darryl had the confidence to play me down back. It was a real positive for me."
With inter-league duties for 2019 done and dusted, Govan will turn his concentration to the Tigers and Saturday's home clash with South Bendigo.
The Tigers (2-3) are one game ahead of the Bloods (1-4), but South Bendigo has had a tougher draw in the opening five rounds.
"We see this as a game similar to the Kangaroo Flat game,'' Govan said.
"Our home deck, South Bendigo have to travel and this is one game we want to tick off."
South Bendigo will blood first-gamer Aaron Gundry.
The Bendigo Pioneers' ruckman is the son of South Bendigo great Tony Gundry.
