Billie Rodda is charged with dangerous driving causing death, careless driving and using a mobile phone while driving in relation to the December 22, 2017 crash.
She has pleaded not guilty.
Mr Lowndes, 23, died after he was struck while on a training ride on Sedgwick Road at Mandurang.
The prosecution has alleged Ms Rodda exchanged 18 text messages with her boyfriend while driving, before she hit Mr Lowndes.
Prosecutor Georgina Coghlan told the County Court earlier this month that Ms Rodda tried to send a message at 10.14am, 68 seconds before the collision occurred.
Defence counsel Rahmin de Kretser said his client told police she had not looked at her phone but at her speedometer at the time of the crash.
The court was told Ms Rodda was inattentive for two to four seconds.
But the prosecution submitted the text messages showed she was inattentive throughout her drive.
Ms Rodda's trial will begin in the County Court on September 23.
