It marked the Buddhist festival Vesak, celebrated on the full moon of the fifth month of the lunar calendar.
Stupa chairman Ian Green said the event was significant as a commemoration of the birth, enlightenment and passing away of the Buddha.
"It's significant for us because he was the founder of all the teachings that we follow to this day, 2600 years later," Mr Green said.
"We respect that what he did was really devote his whole life to the benefit to others. Particularly the way that he was able to show us the path to enlightenment, therefore it's like a positive influence on the world."
Illumin8 celebrations took place on both Friday and Saturday.
