Police are investigating a house fire in California Gully on Monday night.
Detective Senior Constable Debbie Graham said the fire started between 6.50pm and 7pm.
"No one was home at the time and we are treating the fire as suspicious," she said.
"We are encouraging anyone with information to come forward."
Investigations are continuing with an arson chemist expected to arrive at the crime scene on Tuesday morning.
Detective Senior Constable Graham asked anyone with information to call the Bendigo Police Station on 5448 1300.
Earlier
Police are investigating a fire at a house in Meggs Court, California Gully on Monday night.
Four fire units attended the blaze, which started just before 7.30pm.
The house was extensively damaged.
