It comes just over a month after candidate Sam Gayed said he would ask the Liberals to beat any Labor promises by 10 per cent.

ALP's Bendigo pledges total $8 million for local projects so far, with a $5 million commitment expected to be announced in the electorate's south on Thursday.

Mr Gayed said he was unavailable on Wednesday but previously said he would ask his party to outmatch any proposed Labor projects or initiatives in the Bendigo electorate, something the party had not done so far.

He said bold thinking was needed and that Labor ideas were too small.

"We must aim much higher than that," Mr Gayed said at the time.

"Any community project deserves to have funding from us (the Liberals) and because I don't see (Labor) matching our potential we will outspend and out-perform them."

Mr Gayed has asked the public to nominate big ideas and projects throughout his campaign, but is yet to make any announcements about Bendigo-specific projects.

Labor candidate Lisa Chesters said it was the first time in many years the Liberals had not committed to Bendigo infrastructure projects before an election.

"These projects just don't come up out of nowhere. They come through working with local communities, local stakeholders, local schools and councils to learn what their priorities are," she said.

"Being a good representative is about knowing the community and being ready to pitch commitments when it matters."

Labor has pledged funding for 11 projects so far. They range from $25,000 for Crusoe College's theatre through to $2 million for a rural road trauma hub and $4.4 million to expand the Bendigo Airport terminal.

Ms Chesters expected $23 million would be pledged by the end of the campaign, including 10 million dollars for the Macedon Ranges Sports Precinct, which sat outside the electorate but was close enough to service people and sports clubs from places like Woodend.

The electorate's other five candidates have been contacted to confirm if they have any Bendigo infrastructure commitments.

Neither the United Australia Party's candidate Adam Veitch nor Fraser Anning's Conservative National Party candidate Julie Hoskin provided specific dollar-value pledges for the Bendigo electorate.
