Bailey Richard Hogan-Jones is charged with culpable driving causing death, committing an indictable offence on bail, contravening a bail condition, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving while drug-impaired, driving drug-impaired to the extent he was incapable of proper control, speeding, and careless driving.
The charges relate to a crash that occurred in the early hours of December 17, when a 21-year-old Long Gully woman died after the car in which she was a passenger struck a stationary truck on Somerville Street.
Mr Hogan-Jones is accused of driving while he was so drug-impaired that he could not have had adequate control of the vehicle.
Police allege he was speeding at the time of the crash, travelling at an alleged speed of between 116 km/h and 144 km/h in the 60 km/h zone.
It is also alleged Mr Hogan-Jones broke the curfew of his bail, which ordered he remain at home between 9pm and 7am, by driving on Somerville Street at 1.30am on December 17.
Mr Hogan-Jones appeared in Bendigo Magistrates' Court via video link on Wednesday.
Defence counsel Eleanor Millar asked for the matter to be adjourned so the defence could acquire their own expert report.
The court heard it was anticipated this report could narrow the issues between the prosecution and the defence.
Mr Hogan-Jones remains in custody and will appear for a committal mention on July 10.
