PYRAMID Hill stands alone as the only undefeated team in the Loddon Valley league after four rounds.
The Bulldogs continued their strong start to 2019 with a 23-point victory over Marong on Saturday, winning 13.14 (92) to 10.9 (69), in their annual Mick Herrick Memorial Game.
The Bulldogs narrowly extended their advantage at each break in what was the hardest-fought of their three wins so far.
"Marong was really good... their pressure was fantastic, they were well-drilled and their set-ups caught us off guard a bit early," coach Adrian McErvale said.
"So it was pleasing the way we were able to work through that and get the result."
Missing key forwards Nathan Fitzpatrick, who is yet to have the extent of his knee injury suffered against Mitiamo confirmed, and recruit Lachlan O'Toole, the Bulldogs had Jack Woodward and Jake Willcocks chip in with three goals apiece.
Midfielder Scott Mann, defender Dylan Morison and Adrian Holland in the ruck led the best for the Bulldogs, who are boasting both the competition's No.1 ranked attack and defence early in the season, while their reserves and under-18s are also both undefeated.
The Bulldogs were down two rotations by half-time following injuries to Trent Barri (knee) and Matt Klein-Breteler (hamstring).
On the back of a 2-0 start to the season the Panthers have now slipped to 2-2, with Saturday's loss following their one-point defeat to Maiden Gully YCW.

"We were right in the game all day, but just lacked a bit of polish going into the forward line," said Marong co-coach Taylor Beard, who kicked two goals.
"If we can clean that up I think we can really push the top sides. There's plenty of positives for us out of the first month."
David Blume and Zach Turnbull each kicked three goals for the Panthers, who were best served by Jeremy Salinger off half-back and the midfield duo of Kyle Manley and Adam Ward.
BRIDGEWATER v CALIVIL UNITED
Forwards Chris Sanders and Michael Cooke combined for nine goals in Calivil United's first win of the season against Bridgewater.
Following an uncharacteristic hat-trick of losses in their first three games of the season, a strong start set up the Demons' 39-point victory at Bridgewater.
The Demons spoiled the Mean Machine's 200-game celebrations of Darren Clutton with their 17.14 (116) to 12.5 (77) triumph.
"We played patches of good footy in our first three games, but weren't able to sustain it for long enough," Demons coach Andrew Freemantle said.
"Today we did and that was the difference."
The Demons held sway by 30 points at half-time, before a seven-goal to two third term extended their advantage to 61 at the final change.
"It was a really good overall team effort. A few players who had been down played good games and it was just good to get the monkey off the back," Freemantle said.
Sanders continued his good form across half-forward with five goals, while new key forward Cooke kicked four for the second game in a row.
Kale Hoggins through the midfield and Ben Haines in the ruck were also among the top players for the Demons.
Having managed just five goals through the first three quarters, the Mean Machine slammed on seven in the last term, but by then it was a lost cause.
In his milestone game Clutton kicked three goals for Bridgewater, as did Archie Conway.
MITIAMO v BEARS LAGOON-SERPENTINE
Mitiamo held Bears Lagoon-Serpentine goal-less in the first half en route to a 51-point victory at home.
It was a lop-sided scoreline at half-time with the Superoos leading 8.7 to 0.6 before going on to win 13.14 (92) to 5.11 (41) and inflict the first loss of the season on the Bears.
"We started really well and were in control of the game at half-time," Mitiamo co-coach Andy Grant said.
"Our backline was really good in that first half. Most of Serp's shots in the first half were under pressure, so I thought our backs did a really good job.
"Overall though, we're probably a bit disappointed we didn't go on and win a bit better than we did given where the game had been at half-time, but in saying that, Serp had a red-hot crack after half-time."
Luke Lougoon off half-back, winger Brent Downie and midfielders Terry Reeves and Doug Thomas were the Superoos' best. Ryan Wellington and Dylan Clohesy kicked four goals apiece.
Co-coach Tyrone Downie returning from a hamstring injury slotted two goals for the Superoos, who have cleared Justin Maddern back to East Malvern following his four-goal cameo the previous week against Newbridge.
On a disappointing day for the Bears given their lacklustre start, they were best served by ruckman Nathan Twigg and new midfielder Matthew Gibbs, while Justin Laird kicked three of their five goals.
NEWBRIDGE v INGLEWOOD
Inglewood was unable to replicate the feat of Elmore in the Heathcote District league by producing a result against Newbridge where last year's wooden-spooner upstaged the reigning premiers.
The Maroons comfortably handled the Blues 15.26 (116) to 5.7 (37) at home.
The 79-point margin could have been far greater for the Maroons had they not been so wasteful in front of goal, converting just 15 of their 41 scoring shots with 3.7 in the first quarter, 3.6 in the second, 6.9 in the third and 3.4 in the last.
Goalkicking aside, coach Brad Comer was pleased with how his side bounced back from the previous week's hiding against Mitiamo.
"The beauty of footy is there's always next week and it's about how you respond. It would have been nice to kick a bit straighter, but the boys showed plenty of character today," Comer said.
The Maroons had Chris Dixon (four), Cameron Rinaldi (four), Austin Fithall (three) and best-on-ground Alex Farrow (three) all kick multiple goals.
The Blues were restricted to just one goal in the first half, at which stage they trailed by 41 points.
Jaxon Billett and recruit Brae Mensforth worked hard for the Blues - now the only winless team in the competition - while Daniel Lloyd kicked three of their five goals.
