Emergency services, a fleet of vintage vehicles, local schools and businesses, bands and the Central Victorian Lion Team were just some of the marchers.
It was the culmination of Maldon's four-day long Easter Fair.
The festivities began on Good Friday with a game of football, which followed an ecumenical service from Maldon's churches.
The main street was filled with 3000 people dancing on Saturday night. Mount Tarrengower glowed above the dancers, lit up for the weekend.
The egg-toss was a particular favourite with the crowd on Monday. Competitors threw raw eggs to each other from gradually growing boundary lines, to raise money for the CFA.
President of the Maldon Easter Fair Committee Peter Thompson said the parade was probably the biggest he'd seen.
He joked that Maldon always says it has Australia's longest running Easter Fair at 142 years, because Bendigo's event is now a festival.
"Today's probably our biggest parade we've had. It's been excellent. We always have a great parade, but this year's exceptional again," Mr Thompson said.
"Our community get involved and behind what we're doing and it fundraises for a lot of our community groups."
Toni Webb of Maldon comes to the parade every year. Her father drove the Newstead fire truck in the parade, with her two sons.
She loves how many people the procession brings to the town, how much effort people put in to be in the parade and how much it's grown in the past few years.
"It used to be a street full, and now it's a block full," Ms Webb said.
The fair was about Maldon as "home" for residents, and those who have left the town, Mr Thomson said.
"We have the tower lit every year for Easter, and it from when it started. And it's about the beacon of Maldon drawing families who have drifted from Maldon to come back," he said.
"It's our beacon of home and joy as we all mix in."
