Here, photographer NONI HYETT captures the smiling faces of some of those on the sidelines of the Bendigo Advertiser Gala Parade, where Dai Gum Loong met predecessors Sun Loong, Loong, and night dragon Yar Loong.
This year's parade replicated another milestone moment in the city's history - when Loong, the city's oldest surviving imperial dragon, met his successor, Sun Loong, at the Alexandra Fountain in 1970.
Retiring Golden Dragon Museum director Russell Jack, 84, said he had never seen crowds like those of this year's parade before in his life.
"Ever. In my life," he said.
