VicRoads has advised that the highway between the Heathcote-Nagambie Road at Heathcote and just south of the Lancefield-Tooborac Rd would remain shut for some time.

Travellers have been advised to seek alternative routes, including the Hume Freeway, Goulburn Valley Highway and Bendigo-Murchison Road.

Police say the Northern Highway at Tooborac remains closed between Seymour-Tooborac Road and Hardings Lane.
Emergency services are on scene at a bushfire in Tooborac. The CFA has controlled the fire.
Police believe the fire started when a truck travelling along the Northern Highway lost a wheel, causing sparks which ignited some roadside grass.
The fire spread around eight hectares before being brought under control.
The fire has been deemed non-suspicious.
5.30pm
The eight-hectare fire on the Northern Highway at Tooborac is under control.
A CFA spokesman said crews control the fire at 4.15pm, almost an hour after the initial call out at 5.20pm.
"Between five and eight hectares were burnt and no assets were threatened," the CFA spokesman said.
Eighteen trucks, along with CFA air support, attended the incident with 17 units currently on scene.
The highway remains closed as CFA crews continue to work at the scene.
Vic Roads has advised those heading off for the long weekend to consider delaying their trip or find an alternative route.
It has suggested that drivers consider the Hume Freeway, Goulburn Valley Highway and Bendigo-Murchison Road instead as some local roads may not be suitable for heavy vehicles.

It poses no threat to the community, but people should stay informed and monitor conditions, the CFA say.
A three-vehicle crash caused the fire. Ambulance Victoria says it assessed one person on the scene, who was not taken to hospital.
CFA says to keep the roads clear so emergency services can respond.
