SOUTH Bendigo distance running star Teleah Hayes will chase a rare feat in the Easter Sunday running of the Bendigo Bank Dragon Mile.
After a hat-trick of Mile triumphs from 2016 to 2018, Hayes is aiming to match the four consecutive wins achieved by Melissa Duncan from 2012 to '15.
The Elmore athlete has racked up many wins on the track and cross-country.
The Dragon Mile course is one she has shone on many times.
Athletes will race 1609 metres in the lead-up to the Bendigo Advertiser gala parade.
Racing starts near the gold monument on Pall Mall, treks south along Pall Mall, swings right at Alexandra Fountain and up View Street before a u-turn and back down View Street and the charge along Pall Mall.
Opponents for Hayes in the women's open include Sophie Hawken and Kirrily Hall.
The men's open includes previous winners Andy Buchanan, 2015 and '16, and Brady Threlfall, 2013.
Buchanan races with Bendigo University, and Threlfall with Bendigo Harriers.
They are two of Bendigo region's best and will take on the likes of University's Kye Jenkyn, South Bendigo's Archie Reid, and Xavier Meade.
Dragon Mile action begins with the mini mile for girls in grade four and under at 11am and will be followed by the boys' mini mile at 11.15am.
Other categories are grades 5-6, years 7-8, years 9-10, years 11-12, open and 40-plus.
Runners to watch in the secondary schools categories include national under-15 3000m champion Jayden Padgham; cross-country and distance star Tullie Rowe; as well as Logan Tickell and Max Rowe.
Entrants for grades 5-6 include Tanner Fear, Sebastian Rossi, Chelsea Tickell and Abbey Cartner.
On the day entries can be made between 9.30am and 10am at the Bendigo Harriers tent near the gold monument, opposite the Conservatory Gardens in Bridge Street.
