TRACTOR AND MACHINERY SWAP
The Historic Tractor and Machinery Swap is all about tractors, engines and all things machinery.
Whether you are looking for a unique item, have spare parts or are interested in machinery, the swap will be the perfect weekend for you.

TOUR OF GARDENS
The Australian Heritage Festival continues this weekend with a tour of the Bendigo Botanic Gardens.
The Bendigo Botanic Gardens, established in 1857 and almost as old as Bendigo itself, are Bendigo's first public gardens.
The gardens boast historical, architectural and botanical significance.
The tour guide, Jane Cleary, has worked for the gardens for many years and has been a driving force for the Friends of the Bendigo Botanic Gardens Group, serving on the executive until recently.
Meet at the Samuel Gadd Centre near the bird aviary.
Adults $2.

RHYTHM AND VOICE
Local school children will participate in an annual celebration of musical creativity for the 2019 edition of Rhythm and Voice.
Now in its fourth year, the event will involve primary school students learning musical skills and singing together as a massed choir.
Music educators Peter Butler and Jenni Heinrich will oversee the workshops before the children showcase their efforts.
Residents are invited to attend the free community concert.
Rhythm and Voice is supported by FReeZA, Kerang Music Society and Gannawarra Shire Council.

JUST DANCE
Head along to this great event and enjoy music by Cheryl Bailey.
The event features a good program and delicious home cooked supper.

BENDIGO ARTHRITIS CLUB
The Bendigo Arthritis Club meets monthly to speak about and conduct activities associated with living with arthritis.
This month, the club features guest speaker Doreen Raven.
The club also conducts warm water exercises by experienced leaders at both Anne Caudle - John Lindell Pool and at the Scope Pool.

VINTAGE MACHINERY RALLY
Held annually, the Lockington Vintage Tram and Machinery Rally will feature working displays, cars, trucks, engines, market stalls and various foods.
The weekend also includes the Lockington Town Garage Sale which will be on Saturday.

SCARECROW COMPETITION
Lockington's Living Heritage Complex and Neighbourhood House are getting into full swing for the weekend.
The annual scarecrow display will once again feature in the town, with various creations made by the people of Lockington.
Awards for the scarecrows will be given on Sunday at the machinery rally at 1pm.

ALANNA AND ALICIA
Twin sisters, Alanna and Alicia return to the Old Church on the Hill to sing their original folky jazz songs for you in an afternoon concert.
The sisters are best known for their quirky lyrics and harmonies and will be accompanied by their band, featuring musicians Damien Neil, Silas Palmer and Sarah Busutill.
Alanna and Alicia will sing songs from their recent release, Songs I'm Singing with Me, a tribute to John Beavis.
The event also features special guest, folk singer William Alexander (the kid from Bourke).
Tickets $15. Doors open 2.30pm.

THIS GIRL CAN!
Get active with Mount Alexander Shire Council's initiative for more women to try something new in all their glory as part of VicHealth's This Girl Can campaign.
This Girl Can - Victoria aims to encourage more women to give physical activity a go, or return to exercise after a break.
The council is co-hosting a range of activities which are fun and tailored to women and girls who want to get active but aren't sure how to take the first step.
The campaign features real Victorian women instead of professional athletes or airbrushed Instagram models and is about empowering women to feel comfortable in their bodies.
The events include:
- Maldon - Social Table Tennis: 2pm-4pm, Tuesdays, Maldon Community Hall, $2.
- Walking Group (brisk walk): 7.30am, Tuesdays, meet at Maldon Neighbourhood Centre, free
- Castlemaine - This Girl Can Dance: 10am-11am, Tuesday, April 16, Movement Zone Studio, Campbell Street, free
- Social Table Tennis: 5.30pm-7pm, Monday, April 8 and 29, Camp Reserve Table Tennis Rooms, $1.50

EXHIBITIONS
CHRYSANTHEMUM SHOW
The Bendigo Goldfields Chrysanthemum Association will be holding its annual Chrysanthemum and Floral Art show.
This year, the association will host the Australian Championship, with many growers from all across Australia.
The floral art attracts many interstate artists, some who have successfully exhibited at the Chelsea Flower show in England.
Tickets $3. Pay at event.

LEGO DISPLAY
Join in the fun and see spectacular Lego sculptures from those at Bendigo Bricks.
There will be fun with bricks, a play zone, retail stalls, a sausage sizzle and much more.

MICA GRANGE OPEN GARDEN
Within the beauty of Mica Grange's open gardens is a sculpture exhibition, giving 15 local and interstate sculptors the chance to display their work in a natural setting.
The sculpture exhibitions involve over 60 different exhibits. Mica Grange also sources a wide range of small garden art pieces for you to purchase to enhance your garden.
There will also be morning/afternoon tea and lunch available.
Group bookings welcome during the week.

PORCELAIN LACE
This exhibition features handmade creations, lovingly crafted by local visual artist and master porcelain doll maker Kerri-Ann Abbott (1957-2016).
The kiln fired porcelain creates a lifelong gift for someone, a collection piece or an art investment, with each piece filled with Abbott's love for the craft and creations.

1000 DOORS
The creators behind the House of Mirrors exhibition are back, bringing a new installation to Bendigo's Rosalind Park.
Created by Christian Wagstaff and Keith Courtney, the team behind the wildly popular House of Mirrors, 1000 doors invites the community to explore a world that looks into the idea of loss and memory through the use of doors.
Cost: Adults $10, under 5 and over 80 free.

PURSUITS OF PASSION AND PRINCIPLE
Buda Castlemaine will host an exhibition of Australian arts and crafts, jewellery and decorative art that will complement the existing collection in the house and garden, which belongs to the Leviny family.
The arts and crafts movement, begun by William Morris in the 1800s, influenced the Leviny daughters who lived at Buda.
Their passion to decorate the home with items both useful and beautiful is still a feature of the house interior today.
Special admission prices are in place until Sunday, April 7, giving Castlemaine State Festival goers an extra week to view the exhibition.

TUDORS TO WINDSOR
More than 150 British portraits of royalty are on display at the Bendigo Art Gallery.
The new major exhibition - Tudors to Windsors: British Royal Portraits - features works on loan from London's National Portrait Gallery with some never having been seen outside of the United Kingdom.
Tudors to Windsors highlights major events in British and world history from the 16th century to present day.
The portraits will allow the gallery visitors to study the royal family faces of the Tudors, the Stuarts, the Georgians, the Victorians and the Windsors.

GALLERY GIGGLES
Parents and little ones are invited to head along to sessions of stories, songs and art for children.

FESTIVALS AND FAIRS
PRIDE FESTIVAL
The Bendigo PRIDE Festival is a month-long community event that celebrates and promotes diversity with particular focus on LGBTIQA+ communities and people.
Organised by the Bendigo Queer Film Festival, with the support of Thorne Harbour Country, headspace Bendigo and MILK Queer Party, the festival presents a program that includes a variety of events.
These events include family days, dance parties, comedy nights, picnic in the park, football matches and more.
