To tie in with the Tudors to Windsors exhibition at the Bendigo Art Gallery, children and adults alike have been busy building and decorating a huge cardboard castle in the library's performance space.
"It has been part of our school holiday program," Goldfields Library's Melissa Marriner said. "It has been something that kids can just come in and be part of without having to book."
Staff at the library put together the main frontage of the castle, but the children have been encouraged to bring their own ideas to the construction.
"There have been quite a few kids coming along and using their imagination," Ms Marriner said.
"There have been some really interesting additions like a keypad access point on the front door, a treasure chest and there was even a throne in there at one point.
"The kids have had an absolute ball with it and even the parents have loved it."
The castle has been one part of the Bendigo Library's Right Royal Romp festivities.
"There has been the building of the castle, a screening of Annie: a royal adventure, and a royal themed craft table where the kids have been able to make crowns, shields and other things," Ms Marriner said.
While the castle is ready for viewing, Ms Marriner said there was still "plenty of time for children to come and put their mark on it".
The castle will be on show at the Bendigo Library performance space through until Saturday April 13.
