POWERCOR says the outages in Bridgewater were the result of a combination of hot, dry weather followed by light rain.
The power company said when dust collected on high-voltage insulators and cross-arms mixes with light rain, a film is formed on the insulators which creates a path for electricity to flow across.
A small amount of electricity has leaked through the path into the cross-arms, causing it to heat up.
