While the Eagles were missing some key players, it was the way the Superoos went about their 47-point win that was most impressive.
A six-goal burst encompassing the end of the first term and start of the second quarter proved decisive in the 14.6 (90) to 6.7 (43) win.
"We executed reasonably well, but our entries inside forward 50 weren't great,'' Mitiamo co-coach Andy Grant said.
"It was only round one so there's always thing to improve on, but overall we were happy with the result."
Defensively, the Superoos were outstanding.
The Eagles were scoreless in the third quarter as they struggled to move the ball with any flow.
"We have a pretty good set up behind the footy and some good runners,'' Grant said.
"Our back six were fantastic. We probably should have kept them to four goals for the game, but they kicked two goals late because we were out on our feet."

Jarryd Wiegard led the backline superbly. The veteran Superoo controlled the game off half-back.
Midfielder Terry Reeves started 2019 the same way he finished 2018 with a solid four-quarter performance and recruit Lachy Woodward showed he'll play a significant role for the club at centre half-back.
In another pleasing sign for the Superoos, they were able to win the game without star recruits Doug Thomas and Tyrone Downie having a huge bearing on the match.
A calf injury to Ash Benbow was the only negative for Mitiamo.
The Eagles never gave up, but there was a class difference between the two sides.
Brayden Aitken was the home side's best player. Sean Moyle kicked three goals in a good start to the season and recruit Alex Pearson did a solid job on Downie.
The Eagles will be strengthened by the return of siblings Nick and Matt Waterson for their round two clash with Bridgewater.

Newbridge v Calivil United
After a first-half scare, reigning premier Newbridge surged clear of Calivil United.
The Maroons led by just nine points at the main break, but it was a different story in the second half.
Newbridge broke the back of the Calivil resistance in the third term when it added 4.5 to no score.
The Maroons carried that momentum into the final quarter and kept the Demons goalless again on their way to an 18.12 (120) to 7.3 (45) victory.
"After half-time we were cleaner with the ball and we got on top in the midfield,'' Newbridge coach Brad Comer said.
"We were a bit rusty early on, but we worked harder after half-time and played much better.
"Our back six were magnificent. It was a great effort to keep them under eight goals for the game.
"As a team, we probably didn't work hard defensively in the first half and we had a chat about that at half-time.
"To keep them to two points in the second half was a great effort by the lads."
After spending 2018 in the forward line, Jordan Gilboy returned to the Newbridge midfield and produced a best on ground performance.
Jayden Prior, Alex Farrow and Sam Kennedy also impressed, while new key forward Cam Rinaldi and Chris Dixon kicked four goals each.
Alex Davis, Ben Haines, Jake Lawry and Chris Sanders (three goals) were best for the new-look Demons.
Inglewood v Marong
Marong's new co-coaches Taylor Beard and Ash Weldon had plenty to smile about after the Panthers scored a 49-point first-up win over Inglewood.
A five-goal-to-one first term set the tone for the Panthers in their 17.13 (115) to 10.6 (66) win.
"We've got two new coaches and a pretty new group, but we've got better and better over the past month,'' Beard said.
"At the same time we're realistic and we know we have a lot of improving to do. It was nice to win today, but we'll get back on the track this week and keep working hard."
Full-back Harry Graham, Nathan Fall and Ben McKinley were the standouts for the Panthers, while Nathan Devanny bagged four goals.
"I felt we looked pretty dangerous going forward, but we're still working on our forward structures,'' Beard said.
Injury kept Beard on the sidelines for round one. He hopes to return for the round two clash with Calivil United.
Sam Barnes kicked four goals to be Inglewood's best player.
Chris McKay was a solid contributor, while former best and fairest winner Jayden Sheean returned to the Blues from South Bendigo and won plenty of the ball.
Pyramid Hill v Bridgewater
Pyramid Hill kicked 16 goals to two after quarter-time in its big 84-point win over Bridgewater.
The Bulldogs' experience and bigger bodies were telling factors as the home side raced to its biggest win over the Mean Machine in 13 years.
The running and ball-winning abilities of Matt Klein-Breteler and Billy Micevski stood out for the Dogs. Scott Mann and Steve Gunther made solid starts, while Nathan Fitzpatrick kicked five goals.
"With eight new players in the team we were a bit nervous early on and fumbled the footy,'' Pyramid Hill coach Adrian McErvale said.
"Bridgewater took the game right up to us in the first quarter, but after quarter time we settled down and started to play together as a team.
"I thought we had even contributions from everyone. At different times through the game we had different people take control of the game."
The young Mean Machine outfit was best served by Joe Mayes, Mac Whittle, Jack Symons and Archie Conway.
