The Superoos flexed their muscles early to set up a decisive half time lead, before withstanding a spirited third quarter fightback from the Eagles to win 48-41.
It was a satisfying first victory as the sole coach of the Superoos for Kylie Piercy, who shared the responsibilities last season with Jenny Clohesy, when the team finished in third place.
"It was a good start .... the heat took its toll a bit on everyone, but we got through," Piercy said.
"They outscored us 15-8 in the third quarter and we fell in a bit of heap, but we regrouped and came home well.
"The hard work was done in the first half, and the important thin for us is we have still got a lot of improvement."
The Superoos were well led at respective ends of the court by goal defence Lucy Morcom and goal attack Laura Hicks, who is back in the line-up after a season off.
"Our defence was absolutely outstanding with Kiani Stewart and Lucy Morcom," Piercy said.
"It was a great team effort, but those two coming out of defence worked really well.
"Whether it's a win or a loss, it's just good to get the first game away, with all the anticipation of the pre-season, but it was nice to come away with a win."

The Superoos will now prepare for next week's home game against Pyramid Hill, which will be hoping to rebound from a first-up loss to Bridgewater.
The Mean Machine defeated the Bulldogs 47-27 to get their premiership defence off to a convincing start.
At Calivil, Newbridge set the tone for a much-improved season with an eight goal win against the Demons.
The 60-52 triumph made for a successful debut to the A-grade coaching career of Jane Reid, who was stoked to get both the game and victory under the belt.
"To come away with a win, we were so pleased and there was a lot of hype afterwards," she said.
"Looking at the results around the league on Saturday and having a good think about the different teams, I'm sure Calivil will be one of the best teams we come up against, so to get that win under the belt straight up was great.
"But you could see there will be things Calivil will be able to bring to the game next time that we will have to be mindful of.
"We can't become complacent, it was a very competitive game and we had to push the whole time."
The Maroons, led by a standout effort in defence from Tracey O'Donnell and some stellar midcourt work from Rachel Pettifer, set up the win with a dominant first half.
The Demons rallied in the second half to outscore the visitors in the third and fourth quarters, but could only bridge the gap by a few goals by the final siren.
On a hot day to star the season, Reid believed her players' fitness and conditioning had played a big part in the win.
"With Tracey you could tell it was her fitness that helped her dominate .... and we had fresh legs in the midfield," she said.
"Our rotations though the bench helped us a lot."
