THE Bendigo Advertiser wants you to have some country football fun and be part of a new competition for 2019.
The Bendigo Addy Footy Challenge being launched today is an opportunity to earn bragging rights among your mates by picking the best stable of teams among the Bendigo, Heathcote District, Loddon Valley and North Central leagues.
HOW IT WORKS:
Entrants select three teams from each of the four AFL Central Victoria senior leagues - Bendigo, Heathcote District, Loddon Valley and North Central.
Each team has been given a points rating and each entrant's stable of 12 teams must not exceed the 65 points salary cap.
Each of the 36 teams across the four leagues will generate a score each week when combining their:
winning percentage;
overall percentage (for/against);
average score for; and
percentage of quarters won.
For example - a team with a winning percentage of 50, overall percentage of 80, average score of 70 and has won 60 per cent of its quarters would generate a score of 260 points.
Each team's score will fluctuate each week based on the four categories.
Each entrant will also select one Power Team, with that team to receive a 50 per cent score boost.
The entrant whose 12 teams accumulate the highest combined score at the end of the season will be declared the winner.
Each team's final score will be based off the end of each league's home and away season - finals are not included.
The competition is open to all the public, not just Bendigo Advertiser subscribers.
TEAM POINTS RATINGS:
To help with selection, what each team's final score was last year had the competition been run is also included.

INAUGURAL ENTRIES
To kick off the competition, Addy sports writers Luke West and Adam Bourke have submitted the first two stables of teams.
Can you put together a stable that will have their teams covered?
WESTY'S TEAMS:
Gisborne - 8
Golden Square - 7
Kangaroo Flat - 4
Huntly - 4
Mount Pleasant - 5
North Bendigo - 8
BL-Serpentine - 6
Calivil United - 5
Marong - 4
Charlton - 5
St Arnaud - 3
Wedderburn - 6
POWER TEAM - North Bendigo
Westy says - tried to avoid lowly-pointed sides as much as possible and therefore focused on mid-range sides, with nine of my 12 teams ranked between four and seven. Banking on a big year for North Bendigo kicking plenty of goals, with the Bulldogs my power team.

BOURKEY'S TEAMS
Gisborne - 8
Maryborough - 2
Strathfieldsaye - 9
Elmore - 3
LBU - 7
Mount Pleasant - 5
Inglewood - 3
Marong - 4
Mitiamo - 9
Boort - 2
Charlton - 5
Sea Lake Nandaly - 8
POWER TEAM - Mitiamo
Bourkey says - different approach with my stable. Loaded up with highly-rated teams Strathfieldsaye, Mitiamo, Gisborne and Sea Lake, so had to take some lower-ranked teams to stay under the cap. Happy with LBU and Mounts as value selections in the HDFNL. Very, very confident that I've got Westy's mediocre stable covered.
