Five staff and one young person were assessed for minor injuries after an incident at Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre on Tuesday.

One staff member needed further assessment in hospital. That staff member has now returned home.
Ambulance Victoria was called to the incident just after 5pm.
A Department of Justice and Community Safety spokesperson said emergency procedures were immediately enacted and the incident was successfully contained.
The spokesperson commended staff for their "swift and professional" response to the incident.
The incident will be reviewed by the Department of Justice and Community Safety. Referrals will be made to Victoria Police for investigation.
