A $10,000 state government grant will support Thorne Harbour Health to run a three-day music and arts festival free from alcohol and other drugs. 

The festival coincides with the Bendigo Queer Film Festival, which runs from April 12 - 14.

The 'What's My Scene' Greater Bendigo LGBTI Creative Arts Harm Reduction Project also involves creative arts workshops, community forums and peer education.

Program highlights include an LBQTI women's day focused on sex, sexuality, relationships and health, followed by a theatre performance, an open mic/variety night featuring local spoken word and acoustic LGBTI artists, a family day run in conjunction with headspace, and sponsoring the Bendigo Queer Film Festival patron's breakfast.

The grant will also support the launch of a campaign called 'I'm Not Buying It' during the Bendigo Pride Festival.

Online digital resources targeting harmful alcohol and other drug in LGBTI communities in regional and rural areas use will be made available as part of the campaign.

Thorne Harbour Health's Martin Gladman said the resources would be shown and spoken about throughout the Bendigo Queer Film Festival.

The Bendigo Queer Film Festival patron's breakfast will feature two local trans community members who are guest speakers in the 'I'm Not Buying It' campaign.

"One of the key things we know is there are not a lot of opportunities for the [LGBTI] community to connect in safe and supportive environments that aren't drug and alcohol related," Mr Gladman said. 

"A lot of queer venues are clubs and parties and those sorts of things. So it's great to be able to provide those events."

The funding forms part of the state government's Ice Action Plan. 

"We know community support is key to beating ice addiction," Mental Health Minister Martin Foley said.

"This grant will help Thorne Harbour Health play an important role in addressing the harm caused by ice."

The first Bendigo Pride Festival takes place from March 29 - April 28.
