The couple - who are experienced travellers - are billed as the show's snobs.
But Kevin and Janetta said their attitude came back to knowing what they like.
"We had to get some sort of title and it's better be snobs than bogans," Janetta said.
"Because we are so well travelled and older than everyone else (in the show), we know what we like.
"Our comedy isn't slapstick (like others on the show), we have more of a dry humour and we just say what we think. There's no scripting, we're just totally honest in our views. If that's being a snob then so be it."
The Maldon couple are now minor celebrities in central Victoria with people eager to chat about their own holiday experiences.
"We are not celebrities in Maldon because we know everybody already," Janetta said.
"In Bunnings last Saturday, we were stopped for selfies and when at the Marketplace by myself I have been getting stopped, with people saying: 'Don't I know you from somewhere?'."
Travel Guides sends travellers on mystery holidays with the guides only given a packing list and a temperature guide.
"We could end up in New York or Wagga and we usually try work it out," Kevin said.
"What we might like, others might not. That makes the show a success."
The hectic filming schedule from July to November sees Kevin and Janetta jetting off every two weeks.
"We go for seven to 10 days, come home, unpack, wash our clothes, re-pack and head off again," Kevin said.
"When you're in your 60s, it takes a little longer to recover because there are lots of late nights and waiting around (at airports).
"But because we're retired, we don't have to worry about work."
Kevin said they had been pleasantly surprised by some of places they had stayed.
"In Argentina, our accommodation was a hostel. We have never, ever stayed in a hostel, never wanted to.
"But we changed our opinion. The hostel Buenos Aires was more like boutique on a budget. It was clean and had nice people. We thought 'we have to have a whole week here' but by end we loved it."
For Janetta, not being able to research a destination was something that put her outside her comfort zone.
"I like to do a lot of research, so to have no idea what's in store is hard to comes to grips with," she said.
"I knew nothing about Taiwan, it was never on any of our lists but I really loved it. It is so quirky and over the top, like a cross between Japan and Seoul. We'll go back there."
