THE continuation of a powerhouse dynasty, or the ending of a premiership drought of more than 50 years?
They are the two scenarios on offer on Friday when Bendigo East takes on Eaglehawk in the BBD midweek pennant division one grand final at Kangaroo Flat from 9.30am.
There is both a sense of familiarity and freshness to the grand final match-up.
Bendigo East is a regular on the grand final stage, with the Beasties gunning for their fifth division one premiership in a row - and 11th in the past 15 seasons.
However, the chance to play off for the premiership has been a long time coming for Eaglehawk.
The Hawks - who have recovered from a shaky 2-4 start to the season - haven't played in a grand final since 1993, while their premiership drought stretches back 52 years to 1967.
The two sides have met three times this season, with the ledger 2-1 in favour of Bendigo East and the winning team having all rinks up each time.
Among the skipper match-ups for the grand final will be East's Ann Borham taking on the Hawks' Kaye Rowe and East's Helen Cough playing the Hawks' Jan Robertson - both for the fourth time this season.
A Bendigo East win would draw the Beasties level with South Bendigo for the most midweek pennant division one flags with 19.
