The Bendigo Senior Secondary College year 12 student showcased the three works that earned her a scholarship and recognition at Wednesday's launch of the Eaglehawk Dahlia and Arts Festival.
Allira will use the $1000 boost for art supplies when she turns her attention to her final two school art projects.
She hoped to study art therapy at university next year, which would help her one day work with children and others to better express themselves.
"I find art quite relaxing. I did a painting for mum one time when I was really annoyed at her. Instead of yelling at her I gave the painting to her. It was one angry painting," Allira said.
"Mum was like 'oh well, I guess it's better than yelling at me'."
The Eaglehawk Dahlia and Arts Festival will continue through to 22 March, with community events including exhibitions, a flower show, a cycling criterium, a family day and a street procession.
