The college will present the musical in September with the impressive prop being the centrepiece of their production.
Operating on hydraulics, the car can move up, down, backwards and forward to give the effect of both driving and flying.
Marist College educator and show producer Alannah Darmody said it was exciting to have the car here before the cast's first rehearsal.
"It's already bought so much joy to our production experience," she said.
"It will be used on stage but also in lead up as well. We are looking forward to hopefully having it at the Easter parade and Dahlia Arts Festival as well.
"I think not only brings us joy, anyone knows story or likes older style car, brings joy to use as well."
Marist College bought the car from a Tamworth school that had previously performed Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
"Now that it's with us, we have got some enthusiastic electricians and computer people looking forward to seeing what they can do with it," Ms Darmody said.
This year's production will be the fourth for Marist College and, thanks to an expanding number of students, their first in Ulumbarra Theatre.
"On stage, for the production, includes more than 100 students as well as parents and staff members helping behind the scenes," she said.
"We are getting bigger and bigger each year. Previously, we had school productions at smaller locations but because we're a larger school now, we're able to incorporate foundation and year 12 students.
"It's wonderful for older students to mentor the younger students. Even in auditions, it was great to see older students wishing the younger ones luck."
Marist College Bendigo will present Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at Ulumbarra Theatre from September 13-15.
