Svanosio’s win aboard Anywhere Hugo ($1.20 favourite) in a $10,000 T1 to T2 trot was the trainer-driver’s sixth success in five days.
It followed a double at Mildura on Wednesday with Major McRae and the Malcolm Rettalick-trained America Tour, and three wins across two venues on Thursday, starting with Dontouch the Duco and Headline Act at Maryborough, and topped with a victory aboard Beach Boy Adios for fellow Bendigo trainer John Gilbertson at Shepparton.
In reference to Anywhere Hugo’s second-up win, Svanosio said he was rapt to have one of his stable stars back in action and in such good form.
“He had a good spell after his three-year-old year and was okay first-up (when second at Melton), but was even better on Saturday night,” he said.
“Hopefully he can work into some even better form in time for when the bigger races come around.
“I was rapt with him, he’s definitely not wound up, or anything. He has had a long build up, but there is nothing like race fitness for a horse like him.
“He got the job done and I feel there is a fair bit of improvement in him.
“Hopefully he will work his way through the grades and in a couple of months’ time he will have the VicBred Sires, which he won the three-year-old final of last year.
“That will be his main aim followed by the Breeders Crown.”
Anywhere Hugo will be back at Melton next Saturday, together with Dontouch the Duco, who has qualified for the $60,000 final Need for Speed Prince series following his Maryborough win.
“The one of Emma Stewart’s (Alpha Male) will be very hard to beat … he’s a very good three-year-old,” Svanosio said.
“But my bloke is starting to step up and hopefully can run well.
“It (next Saturday) will be one of the bigger night’s for harness racing, it’s the ovarian cancer awareness night.
“It will be great having a couple of runners on such a night – it’s an all trotting night as well.
“Hopefully we can continue the winning run.”

The win of Anywhere Hugo was followed immediately by that of the Douglas-trained Ozzie Battler, who made it two wins from two starts at Melton in the $24,000 Sapling Stakes for two-year-old colts and geldings.

The Anderson Racing-bred and owned gelding was again driven by Josh Duggan and had to dig deep to hold out the Andy Gath-trained and Alex Ashwood-driven Night Spirit, with Shaq third for Bendigo trainer-driver Ellen Tormey.
A successful few days for Douglas, who won five-straight leading trainer titles from 2007-08 to 2011-12, was kick-started at Maryborough on Thursday when he landed a treble in the opening three races on the program.
His winning run started with the six-year-old gelding Wotchawaitingfor in a class one, and continued with the mare Chinook Winds and five-year-gelding Jayedgar, also in class one events.
Douglas has now trained 42 winners this season to be fifth in the standings behind Emma Stewart (120), Andy Gath (72), David Aiken (51) and Brent Lilley (44).
He will have a pair of starters at Shepparton on Tuesday in Bacardi Jess and Ozzie Sunshine.
