The school's new dog will be introduced to BSE gradually as part of the Dogs Connect Program.
Being a groodle, nine-week-old Barkley is non-allergenic and has already been showing off her gentle nature.
Her first job will be to learn to relax and become familiar with the surroundings and observe how things work in her new world.
One of the main challenges for staff and students when they see Barkley at school that they just continue as normal and do not approach her or give her any attention.
Dogs Connect was developed in Bendigo by Grant Shannon. The program teaches young people social and emotional skills by using a dog as part of the education journey.
St Francis of the Fields Primary School in Strathfieldsaye has had their Dogs Connect pup Sonny since 2014.
Barkley will be homed by Ange Tremain in BSE's student support centre with staff to be guided through the Dogs Connect process of by Mr Shannon over the next two terms.
