Hundreds of people turned up in support of the re-opening of the popular historic live music venue in Hepburn Springs.
The venue has received a complete physical makeover and new branding.
The Palais opened in 1926 to cater to tourists visiting the region. It closed in January 2013 despite being a proud music venue for more than 100 years.
Manager Richard Fanale said the weekend was completely booked out and it was great to have launched the space with a traditional cleansing ceremony by a representative from the Dja Dja Wurrung and by promoting suppliers.
Suppliers include local producers, but also speciality producers who offered something a bit different, like French champagne and plant-based cheese.
Mr Fanale said people were grateful the venue had opened its doors again.
He said the community support had been amazing.
"Getting the venue back up and running was definitely partly due to the community wanting it to happen and getting behind us, which is why we want to have a community focus going forward," he said.
He said the venue was operating as a bar and a live music venue, but also as a community-based building.
"We are open to people’s passion and creativity to utilise the venue as a community space," he said.
"It's a beautiful, big, space and we don't want it just sitting there when we're not using it."
The venue has a number of local and international music and cabaret acts lined up this year.
