However I am becoming more and more disillusioned with government in its apparent lack of action in ensuring the practice continues to operate in an effective manner.
Instead it appears to me that way too much time and talk is related to climate change and alternate forms of energy production.
In my opinion we need to concentrate more on keeping our landfill sites taking less waste that can be recycled and such waste being turned into productive material, which in turn saves money and the environment. If labour cost is a problem, then use low-risk prisoners.
This needs urgent attention for a country that is quite capable of coming up with innovative ideas and solutions instead of wasting time debating climate change, which is being ignored by other much larger countries and polluters than a small fry like us.

Thanks to hospital staff
So far this year, I have had two trips to the hospital by ambulance, with a short stay in the hospital each time.
I must say I was greatly impressed with the staff and processes.
Organisation seems to be the key word here, along with care.
The nurses were unfazed with the behaviour from some belligerent patients and remained remarkably calm and focused.
The sheer number of patients admitted, and waiting was much higher than I expected – it is no wonder there are so many staff involved.
I could only marvel at the way staff members liaised with each other – so everybody knew what was going on.
The attention to detail; the cleanliness; the constant checking of information; the competence; the bedside manner were all ingredients of this amazing cake we call Bendigo Health.
Thank you to all staff – you have made this hospital something we can all be proud of.

National anthem
Re the ABC news on Saturday, February 16 at 7pm about the football team not singing the national anthem and the suggestion that it be changed.
I fully agree, the present anthem has no feeling about it to make one feel proud to be an Australian. I do not remember the words, despite going over and over trying to remember the words on the train trip from Melbourne to Bendigo to no avail.
I feel that we need an anthem that has some meaning and to make one feel proud to be an Australian. The French anthem is a very good example. I suggest the song We Are Australian. If not; one like it.

Free speech
Since the introduction of political correctness and new laws restricting freedom of speech, opinions pages in some newspapers have shrunk and became more like children's corners.
Readers are being given themes to write on and pictures to colour in.
That way no schemes and wrongdoings of unions, ethic groups, religions, business cartels or foreign countries become exposed and they keep carrying on.
