VCE theatre studies students Edwin Wallace-Smith and Michaela Hulme and VCE music students Oliver Vine, Nelson Beks and Lily Begg were selected by an independent panel of Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority assessors to perform as part of the Top Class concert.
Edwina will perform a monologue from Nora and Delia Ephron's play Love, Loss and What I Wore while Michaela will perform a monologue from the musical Falsettos by William Finn.
Music student Oliver has written an original composition titled Macedonian Journey, Nelson will perform Heitor Villa-Lobos’s Prelude No. 5 on classical guitar and Lily will play Carl Vine’s Toccatissimo on piano.
It is the sixth consecutive year Girton Grammar School has had students selected for the Top Class concert.
Girton headmaster Matthew Maruff said the school has a long and rich culture in performing arts.
“These students have been rewarded for their outstanding 2018 VCE Theatre Studies and VCE Music results which gave them the opportunity to audition in Melbourne for the Top Class program,” Mr Maruff said.
"From our junior school production to our compulsory Year 8 production, our one-act plays and ensemble groups to our highly professional senior school production, these five students have been involved on many occasions."
Top Class is a concert series that presents the works of outstanding VCE students in performing arts subjects. It is part of the VCE Season of Excellence managed by the VCAA.
