As Win King prepares to celebrate her 102nd birthday the lifelong Carlton Football Club fan has received a birthday gift to savour.
Her children and grandchildren arranged for a signed number 23 guernsey and a message from Blues forward Charlie Curnow.
Ms King’s son Ted Franklin said she began following the Navy Blues because her brother Lou was such a “mad Carlton supporter”.
“Mum was the youngest in the family of seven. She’s never been a member but she has always barracked for them,” he said.
Mr Franklin and granddaughter Krista inherited her passion for the club.
“Gran’s always barracked for them, so we’ve always barracked for them,” Ms Franklin said.
“No-one in our family barracks for anyone other than Carlton,” except for her grandad, who supported St Kilda.
Mrs King now lives in Bendigo but was born in Timor, near Maryborough, and has lived in Chewton and Castlemaine.
“I’ve been everywhere, she said.
Mrs King’s birthday takes place today.
