It all started back when Jazy Roberts, 14, would tag along to watch her father Jason and brother Tom play golf, where she would observe from the comfort of a golf buggy.

But one day Jazy decided to pick up a club and give it a go, and the rest is now Belvoir Park Golf Club history.
Jazy, who now plays off a handicap of two, broke the club’s ladies course record in January with a remarkable 72 off the stick, one-over par on the ladies course.

“I knew the round was going well, but I didn’t realise I was going to break the record,” Jazy said.
The previous club record was 73, which Jazy had equalled only a few months prior.
“I like playing golf because it’s an individual sport and if you keep trying hard, good things will come,” Jazy said.
Jazy also plays for the Sandhurst Hockey Club, a sport which she believes the skills of ball control are almost directly transferable.
The journey to becoming a golfing young-gun has been helped by the watchful eye of Belvoir Park GC professional Paul Powell.
Jazy spends endless hours every week with Powell on the club’s practice range, where he helps her with every element of her game from tee through to green.
Her father Jason has played golf for decades, and takes great pleasure from watching his daughter excel on the course.
“We’re all very proud of her, she got close to breaking the record a few times...but the round came as a bit of a surprise, it wasn’t her best game but she managed to end it with some good scores,” Jason said.
“Golf is a great game, you get out in the fresh air and try not to get too annoyed with yourself,” he laughed.
But the real journey has just begun for Jazy, this year she will play ladies pennant at Melbourne’s Heritage Golf Club.
“It will be good for Jazy to play among other kids who are the same age and standard,” Jason said.
“There will be around five or six other players who will be playing off handicaps less than five, so it will be a great experience for her.”
Heritage GC located at Melbourne’s Chirnside Park has two championships grade courses and also includes practice facilities with 300m fairways and putting greens.
Despite the reality of frequent long drives across Victoria to play at events, Jason knows that it’s all part of the journey to becoming a professional golfer.
“We don’t see all the driving as hard work because we want to see our children do well, we will just keep on trying and see what happens in the future,” Jason said.
Jazy has already rubbed shoulders with Australian golfers Karrie Webb and Minjee Lee, whom she met after winning a My Golf Skills Challenge in 2013.
Jazy’s record breaking score card now sits pride of place in the Belvoir Park GC’s club rooms.
