Haven; Home, Safe has appointed Jan Snell, Gerard José and Damien Tangey to its board.
Mr Tangey, the managing director of Birchgrove Property, said it was wonderful to have the opportunity of contributing to the provision of affordable and social housing along with the social services needs that accompany the housing need.
“Housing Associations are an important and significant part of the property industry and their further integration with broader industry is important to open the door to more much-needed housing,” he said.
Mr José is about a week out from starting as chief executive officer of Bendigo Community Health Services.
He was previously the chief executive of Mildura Rural City Council – one of five locations in which HHS has offices.
“Both the staff and board members [at HHS] are passionate about making change that is effective and creates long term positive impact,” he said.
“I look forward to learning and contributing to improving quality of life in a systemic way.”
Ms Snell is the deputy secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services northern division and was awarded a Public Service Medal in 2015 for her work in the space.
She is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, of which Mr Tangey is also a member.
HHS chair Sue Clarke said each of the new directors brought a broad range of business and cultural skills to board table.
“Their background, qualifications and experience will add considerable value to our board and I look forward to working with them to deliver on our organisational purpose as we progress our five-year strategic plan to deliver more supports and more homes through more partnerships and increased capacity,” she said.
Ms Snell was appointed at the organisation’s February meeting. Mr José and Mr Tangey were appointed in December.
The three new appointees join Ms Clarke and fellow directors Andrew Cairns, David Brant, Ken Belfrage, Melanie Rogers, Jan Boynton, Candy Broad, and Warwick Cavanagh on the HHS board.
