Update, 2.01pm: AN older man’s house will have to be demolished following a house fire at Rochester today.
A crime scene is in place and fire investigators are on the way to clarify the cause of the blaze.
Echuca Acting Sergeant Jasmine Gregor said the house was well alight when firefighters first arrived at the scene.
The fire was called in after smoke was seen issuing from the roof of the Diggora Road address.
Acting Sergeant Gregor said the ceiling in the kitchen and lounge room collapsed as a result of the fire.
The house’s occupant was not home at the time.
Acting Sergeant Gregor said emergency accommodation was being arranged for the man.
Update, 12.01pm: POLICE have been requested to attend the scene of a house fire in Rochester.
Paramedics were on standby during the fire, but an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said no patients were reported.
EARLIER: FIREFIGHTERS are on scene at a house fire in Rochester.
Reports of a fire at a Diggora Road address were received at 11.02am, according to a CFA spokesperson.
Three vehicles are responding.
The fire has been marked safe.
